Career Development and Employment Unit – College of Science
An administrative formation dedicated to engaging with students and graduates of the College of Science, providing training programs and workshops, and building bridges between students and the labor market in both public and private sectors, locally and internationally. This unit contributes to developing a progressive society by updating student knowledge and enhancing their skills to serve our country.
Mission: Enhancing the performance of graduates of the College of Science and raising their competencies by developing educational outcomes that enable them to compete in the labor market.
Vision: Leadership and excellence among science colleges in Iraqi universities by improving educational outcomes and aligning them with labor market requirements.
Objectives
- Develop educational outcomes and align them with labor market requirements.
- Ensure continuous communication between graduates and the college.
- Enhance graduates’ skills and abilities through workshops and seminars.
- Activate summer training and guide students to suitable training in both public and private sectors.
- Provide guidance, follow-up, training, and professional development for graduates to strengthen their skills and prepare them for market needs.
- Create a database of job opportunities that can attract graduates in both public and private sectors.
- Provide a clear picture of the labor market to graduates, including unemployment issues and workforce needs.
Tasks
- Create a graduate database to serve as a gateway for employers to select the best candidates.
- Publish the names of graduates at the end of each academic year.
- Hold workshops and discussions on job-seeking skills (CV writing, job interviews, etc.).
- Launch a dedicated webpage on the college website for graduate-related news and communication.
- Design brochures and guides offering professional advice and training for graduates.
- Invite outstanding graduates to deliver lectures and seminars to motivate current students.
- Invite labor market representatives to share their views on graduate competencies.
- Consult with graduates on necessary actions to be implemented through the unit.
- Conduct surveys to gather institutional feedback on graduates’ performance and develop their skills.
- Organize an annual graduates’ day to hear feedback and address their concerns.
- Prepare an annual guide for the college’s graduates.
- Provide advice, consultation, and answers to graduates’ inquiries via the unit’s website.
- Conduct surveys on the performance of graduates in their workplaces.
- Create a database of potential employment sectors that can recruit science graduates in public and private domains.
